Green Goodness Smoothie

A delicious start to the day, really easy to make and bursting with flavour, vitamins & minerals. Fresh spinach and avocado create a wonderful green colour and a creamy texture. Spirulina powder is now widely available in most supermarkets and is a superfood packed with essential amino acids and is reported to contain 10 times more calcium than milk and has 50 times more iron than spinach! It has a strong distinctive flavour so use sparingly as can be quite overpowering!


You will need...

A juicer & blender

1 golden delicious apple
1 conference pear
¼ pineapple, peeled and cut in half
1 kiwi, peeled
Handful of kale
Handful of fresh spinach
½ cucumber
½ avocado

Thumb size piece of ginger, peeled
¼ lemon slice
1 tsp spirulina powder
Handful of ice (optional)
 


To make...

Serves 2

1.     Place the avocado, kiwi, teaspoon of spirulina and ice (if using) into your blender

2.     Place the apple then lemon & ginger into your juicer, followed by the spinach & kale

3.   Place the pear on top of the spinach & kale so they are sandwiched between the apple and pear

4.   Turn your juicer on and let all the ingredients above go through, then feed through the cucumber then pineapple

5.   Pour into your blender and mix until smooth

6.   Serve immediately
